Chun Tae-il worked as a garment worker at Pyeonghwa Market in the Dongdaemun area, the center of the garment industry in Korea at that time. After he set himself on fire, he shouted, "Abide by the Labor Standards Law!" 
전태일은 당시 한국 봉제산업의 중심이던 평화시장에서 봉제 노동자로 일했다. 몸에 불을 붙인 다음, 그는 "근로기준법을 지켜라"고 외쳤다.
